Sweat & Toil Label Design

Puff, I can tell you that churning out 18 label designs for a new skincare brand in a very short space of time is very hard work!
I’m taking time out from my label designing to write this blog about the project…I’m getting label blind, I’ve been looking at them hard for huge chunks of the last days, I need a break. When I’ve finished this I’ll complete the last three labels.
Then we get onto the horrible tedious task of putting them into their print ready files, with the bleeds and the crop marks etc etc, thats the boring bit.

(Section of one of the labels - the flock pattern is derived from the brand design I’ve created)
Preparing the print ready files also the scary bit…always the fear of getting something wrong and a printing disaster ensuing! I think a significant chunk of my design time for print design is spent scrutinising print files for errors - seems harsh on the client in theory (after all they are paying for it) but saying that I’ve never made a horrible print mistake in 5 years and I think they’d rather pay for ‘care’ at my end than re-prints at the other end, which will cost a lot more, especially for those ordering large print runs.
So soon the labels will be complete and the client has been busy all day today with frenzied product creation in anticipation of the delivery of all her labeled jars.
Why the rush? Well a stand at one of those important trade fairs in December of course, theres nothing like a stand at a trade fair (expensive) to push designers and clients to their limits getting everything ready in time for the launch of a new brand.
After the labels (and product photography of course!) we’ll be working on the glossy brochures to hand out with the products, I hope to show you some pages from this soon which will also show you the completed products
A bit about Naturessence:
Naturessence is a new skincare brand due to launch which offers a completely natural range of skincare - luxury skincare.
Some of the gorgeous products from the comprehensive range will include Chocolate Orange Lip Gloss, Decadent Body Butter Cream (’chocolate mouse’ or ‘exotique’!) and much much more.
Anyone who wants a brochure (including order form) for these 100% natural products let me know and I will ensure one is posted out to you. Once we’ve designed and printed them that is!
UPDATE 3.12.07: Ta Dah!!
Below the brochure has been designed and sent off to the printing firm. Unfortunately we ran out of time for a full multipage brochure to be designed and printed and therefore had to settle on a folded leaflet instead.
Below is the cover design and I should imagine that when we do design the full brochure we will be using the same cover design.
