Urban Colour Pallettes

Colour Pallettes From The City

Inspiration is all around us.

David Airey said on his logo design blog two months ago that nature provides some of the most striking and beautiful colour palletes imaginable. I thought this was an exceptionally clever observation.

Yesterday these words came to mind as I sat outside of a cafe in bustling Birmingham City centre, enjoying a sunny day out with my husband two young children.

We’d just been to the Myths & Legends exhibition at the Museum, which was actually quite scary with it animatronic beasts. See a picture of a creepy alien below!!…..

….and were enjoying a coffee on the pavement outside a cafe when I heard some amazing music in the distance. I thought it might be from a shop or car.

Then I saw flags fluttering in the distance and I realised that in fact it was a Hare Krishna parade because I had seen their stalls outside of the museum earlier. Clearly they were having some sort of event/festival.

As they drew closer I grew excited to realise this colourful parade was going to pass right by our table and we were going to have front row seats.

Colour schemes are all around in nature - and in addition we can find urban pallettes.

From the city yesterday:

Very colourful cart…yellows, oranges, pinks.

My daughter holds a flower and flyer she was handed by worshippers passing by. Apparently it is the Festival of Chariot and that vehicle going past is in fact a Chariot and not a cart!

I spend a moment admiring the flyer design, and note how lovely the flower looks next to it…and so took a zoomed up photo for you.

Above: left hand corner of the photo you can see my two orange haired children. My daughter in her green coat and my son right next to her lower down because he is 3yrs younger :)

Below: Some more pics…look how beautiful that yellow dress is in the sunlight.
